Subject Leader – Mrs Crowther
Music at Myrtle Park is provided to engage and inspire children to develop a love of this universal language, which embodies one of the highest forms of creativity, and their talent as musicians.
Through delivering a high quality music curriculum the children will learn to;
- perform. listen to, review and evaluate music across a range of historical periods, genres, styles and traditions, including the works of great composers and musicians
- sing and to use their voices to create and compose music on their own and with others, have the opportunity to learn a musical instrument, use technology appropriately and have the opportunity to progress to the next level of musical excellence
- understand and explore how music is created, produced and communicated, including through the inter-related dimensions: pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and appropriate musical notations
We provide many opportunities throughout the year for parents and families to come and be an audience and see what the children have been learning and be part of a musical performance be that the Nativity, Carols by Candlelight, Choir or the Upper Key Stage 2 end of year production.
